Quick Introduction

Hello

I am a Researcher by day and an artist with a photography-forward practice for most of my other time. Images I generate are often about the everyday and uneventful and made along the way: walking to the office, bicycle rides, walks (general), between two places, etc.

Unintentional marks made by people is the current theme surfacing in my practice. Artifacts that I describe includes: wallies, disposed chairs and placed litter.

Place and space are critical to my experience. I live and work in San Francisco, the majority of my current images are based in this city or region. Within most of my images I do not pursue the full truth of the subject.

Tension between fiction and non-fiction is more visible within each collection of images. Enabling the imagination to author before, during and/or after the image is a joy indulge. Not knowing all the facts is OK. not having control is OK.

Thank you,

Matthew
